Best Non-Toxic: Caraway Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set

One of the reasons Ebony Austin, owner of Atlanta-based Nouveau Bar & Grill, recommends Caraway’s Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set is for health and safety.

“Even if you overheat this cookware set, you never have to worry about harmful fumes or chemicals,” Austin says. Austin says the nonstick coating on the cookware is safe to pop in the oven.

The set also has its own accessories for organized storage. “This cookware set comes with a magnetic pan rack for storing pots and pans and a canvas lid holder that attaches to the inside of a cabinet door,” Austin says, calling this feature “extremely convenient.”

Nordic Ware is the best non-stick cookware made in America

If you’re looking for the best non-stick cookware made in the USA, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is nearly all non-stick cookware is made overseas. It is most commonly made in China where the production costs are lower.

If you want to stay away from made-in China products, the good news is that there are many high-quality nonstick pans available. In this video, I break down some of the most high-quality cookware that isn’t made in China.

My top recommendations are Made In (Italy), Scanpan (Denmark), and Swiss Diamond (Switzerland).

Calphalon, an American brand which used to manufacture all its cookware in America in the past. However, today only a handful of pieces are manufactured in China.

If you ask me what nonstick cookingware I would recommend in 2020, it would be Made In.

Made In’s nonstick cookware was originally manufactured in America when it launched years ago. However, the brand now manufactures its non-stick cookware in Italy.

That said, the quality, durability, and performance of Made In non-stick pans have remained the same despite the change in production facilities.

Made In non-stick features the same highly-conductive 5-ply base as the brand’s American-made stainless steel cookware but also includes an ultra-durable multi-layer non-stick coating.

Made In offers the durability and heat conduction of premium stainless steel, as well as the convenience and nonstick properties of nonstick cookware. You can buy this high-quality made-in-Italy non-stick cookware on

If you’re insistent on buying non-stick cookware that’s made in the USA, the best option is Nordic Ware.

Nordic Ware, a Minnesota-based family business, is located in St. Louis Park. It has been around since 1946. Their bakeware is their most well-known product, but they also make high quality nonstick cookware.

Their non-stick pans are made of either cast or forged aluminum and feature a textured PFOA-free non-stick coating that’s ideal for searing.

The cast aluminum non-stick pans have thick walls which deliver excellent heat retention, similar to a cast iron skillet, but they’re much lighter and more nimble.

    Non, I wouldn’t.

Nordic Ware, however, is the best choice if American-made products are important to you and nonstick pans from the USA are your top priority. Check it out on or Amazon.

Tramontina Gourmet 12-Piece Triply Clad Cookware Set

The Tramontina Gourmet line landed as the best cookware set among the three that made the New York Times’ narrow WireCutter list. Their review states that the Tramontina Gourmet 12-Piece Tra-Ply Clad Cookware sets heat evenly and is easy to lift. “Their rounded, ergonomically shaped handles are also comfortable to hold. We’ve long-term tested an older (now-discontinued) version of this set for two years, and we’re confident that this durable cookware set will provide you with many years of use.”

Consumer Reports agrees that the set is not the best, but it’s still a great choice. They write that the Tramontina Triply Clad set contains enough pans for most cooking tasks without taking up too much space in your kitchen cabinets. “It excels at cooking evenness and simmering, and earns a Very Good on both the speed of heating and food-release tests.”

Good Housekeeping names the T-Fal Signature set the “best value nonstick cookware” set on their list. “T-fal’s Teflon-free nonstick coating makes these pots and pans foolproof when it comes to turning out crepes, frittatas and other sticky foods. Their handles stay cool to the touch and include a finger grip, so they’re comfortable to hold when cooking,” they write.

PureWow lists it as one of the most effective for cleaning, and this can be a big help if you have little time.

  • The bold colors of the cookware set immediately stood out to me at first. This copper-coated cookware set, however, is an interesting departure from the norm. Most sets of cookware are black, brown or silver.

Because I love to cook, I am always looking for new cookware. This set has a lot of great features. You can use it on an induction stovetop and they won’t scratch your countertops.

The jumbo cooker makes cooking pasta easier, as it’s spacious enough to hold a lot of people.

Nonstick also makes cleanup easy. I do not have to wait overnight for pots or pans to cool down.

I realized the set is scratch resistant since it is made from anodized stainless steel. The stackable design also helps with cleanup because the whole set puts itself away.

The 14-piece set includes 1 saucepot, one cooking pot, one stew pot, and a large frypan.
