For many, many months I have been talking about my Dagne Dover Allyn bag. You’ve probably seen the bag many times if you follow me on InstaStories. I have also shown you how big it can hold. But, it dawned on me that this tote has never been reviewed here. The Wardrobe Oxygen Community discussed this bag on Facebook. I decided it was time for me to review the Dagne Dover Allyn Tote on the blog.
DagneDover gave me the Large Allyn bag as a present. However, I didn’t have to do this review. They don’t even know it. The Large Allyn bag replaced all my bags. It is made from leather and it’s much lighter in weight than the other Dagne Dover bag. The bag is cleverly designed and has plenty of room for all your essentials, like my other Dagne bags. Even with my winter coat, the 11-inch straps fit perfectly over my shoulders. I forgot to snap a picture of my bag over my shoulder. But they are also long enough that it can be easily carried around in my hands without dragging. The bag, along with the Allyn Tote are shown in the photos below. This is a day in which I telework in coffee shops or another place far from home. Amazing how many things this bag holds.
A zipper pouch made from neoprene holds my MacBook perfectly and also my larger laptop for work that has a large battery.
The pocket has a neoprene pouch next to it that is ideal if you have a tablet. It also holds my notebook and planner.
Like my other Dagne Dover totes, the Allyn tote has a detachable neoprene water bottle holder. The fabric keeps condensation from touching anything else in the bag, and having the holder keeps the bag upright at all times.
There’s an outside tiny pocket perfect for a Metro fare card or ID card for your office.
A zipper pocket is inside, which makes it easy to grab quick-grab items. It holds my cables, battery, plugs and other small items.

Dagne Dover Allyn Tote Review
Dagne Dover Allyn Tote is a soft bag and has a smaller footprint. Although it is structured, its walls are soft. If the bag doesn’t fill up, the bag can still fold down like many totes. The interior organization is what makes this bag stand out among other totes. It has pockets, pouches, as well as compartments that can hold everything. This is a preferred work bag when working at a coworking space or when I want a bag to take on a business trip as when it’s not full of laptops and files it can pass as an everyday handbag. I then don’t have to pack a separate purse for networking events or casual dinners, and I can leave the desk and go to lunch and not look like I brought the whole office with me.

I used it quite often for the office and continue to use it when going to coworking spaces because how it can hold so much and have it so very organized. I love the leather, it’s luxe, quality, and also maintains its color even if it gets scuffed.
Many people have told me they prefer the Allyn Dagne Dover duffel to the Legend. They use public transportation and the Allyn is lighter and easier for walking to the office.
Although the Allyn Tote doesn’t zip shut at the top, it has strong magnets to keep it closed. If you completely fill up the tote, it won’t be closed on top. One reader was curious about the functionality of the bag with a 12″ binder. It can be used to carry a laptop, water bottle and paper planner. Although it was simple to place over my shoulders, the bag did not close. It did close when I placed my basics (laptop, cord, purse necessities, journal, or paper planner) and it closed. The magnet does a great job. Legend Tote may be a better choice if your preference is for bags that are fully zippered.
