Final thoughts on the Paper Shoot

You can have a little fun with this. Also, the more casual look is achieved by having to insert the card and camera into your computer for review.

On a good day it can produce images equivalent to reasonable modern budget smartphone. Touch focus and exposure control will also be available on your smartphone. You will likely be able to meter better with it. You can also get film effects filtering and review screens. The Paper Shot will probably cost the same, or even less, than your budget smartphone. as I type I could pick up a Moto G8 from Argos on our high street for PS119. That’s about 5 quid more than I paid for my Paper Shoot all in (although that includes a hefty $24USD import and VAT charge) But that’s not the point. this is Lo-fi stuff and fun. However, it’s not a lomo. Instead of smartphone quality images you will get just the slightest filter.

You want a unique digital camera you can build yourself. The CROZ is a DIY camera with a transparent cover that lets you see the inside components.

CROZ was a joint venture between Hyle Design of Macao (which designed and developed the look and design) and Paper Shoot of Taiwan (which developed the internal hardware of its paper-encased camera cameras).

? Two switches are included in the camera’s 48g weight (1.7oz). One acts as an on/off and shutter button. The other allows you to select which photo effect to apply.

You can’t view the LCD screens on your cameras to see what they look like. One blue flashing light indicates that an image is captured.

There are four photo filters that you can use to create different look for your images. These are sample photos taken by Felix Januario Vong.

By adding additional lenses to your camera (e.g. a fisheye lens or a wide angle lens), you can make it more flexible.

The CROZ comes not only with a clear box, but also has wood exteriors. Here’s a 37-second video showing how you assemble the CROZ from the components found in the box:
