Performance

The raison d’etre of the PING G410 LST driver is low spin, and it certainly delivers there. PING states that the LST is 200-400 RPM lower spinning than the Plus and SFT, depending on the player and the shaft. My 10.5 degrees LST and my 9 degrees Plus were compared. They had the exact same shaft in both of their heads. LST is an excellent option for fitters as it can be used both to decrease or keep spin, and to boost launch angle.

When trying a low-spin driver, I ask myself the following question: How much forgiveness are you losing? In this case, it is very little. The G410 LST and G410 Plus are the two most forgiving. The ball speed, launch, spin, and roll remained relatively constant even with impact. I’ll add that, in my opinion, no driver beats the G410 LST on the forgiveness to looks ratio. This is a very sleek looking head at 450 cc, but it still delivers the consistency we all want.

The G410 LST, just like the G410 Plus has two modes of adjustability: at the hosel or through a weight located in the rear. There are eight settings for Trajectory Toning 2.0 and you can adjust the loft in one or both directions. To promote draw, fade, and straight ball flight, the movable weighing can be placed in one of three positions. I found that the LST was slightly less fade-biased than that of the Plus. However, that could just be due to my smaller head and forward CG.

The Test

Ping let me go in October so I could get fitted to the right shaft length for me. While I couldn’t hit the G425 as it was classified back then, I did test the G410 heads. The LST 9 Degree was my best choice. Therefore, the G425 Driver was an LST model. With the identical shaft it gave me the club most suited to my needs so I could truly evaluate.

I compared the driver against the G410 LST inside at LSH Auto, Mercedes Benz Stockport using Trackman 4 and Titleist Pro V1x balls. Reddish Vale Golf Club was my next stop to try it out on a variety of rounds, to determine if it was worth a place in mine.

Mark has a reputation for creating great clubs and driving drivers. Mark will test the latest “big stick” in the Ping G410 range. It is designed to help players who want less spin at the tee. This clubhead has an increased MOI (more stability) than the Ping G400.

Can The Ping G410 Lst Be a Good Driver?

Ping’s G410 LST driver enhances its excellent G410 range. It offers another way for players to increase their distance by reducing spin. It certainly looks to be one of the most forgiving ‘low spin’ drivers on the market complimenting the G410 Plus model well.Jun 13, 2019

Is The Ping Lst Forgiving?

PING’s LST driver is what impressed me the most. They are very patient and stable, despite having lower spinning speeds. While there is small trade off in forgiveness, you don’t need to be a plus handicap to game the G425 LST.May 3, 2021
