With regard to the Callaway MAVRIK driver, one of our fitters noted that it is low spin and that many golfers may not need the SZ model just to shave off some RPM. Multiple fitters used the phrase “great forgiveness” to describe it.
Multiple fitters, as well their clients, have commented positively on the Epic Flash’s improved sound. The fitters were also impressed with the shape, one stating it’s the “best looking Callaway head” in some years.
Callaway Flash Face SS20 Technology received a strong endorsement from a fitter. The unique faces of each model’s loft are designed to assist different types and kinds of misses, he stated. According to him, any player who comes through our doors can be fitted into a MAVRIK golf driver.

The standard model will be sufficient for most golfers, but there are many nuances to consider. This review completes the trio of MAVRIK drivers. You were likely expecting Top Gun references. But this driver deserves nothing but respect. Distance not significantly increased from Callaway Epic Flash
Some may find the look a little boring
Callaway has doubled down on their use of Artificial Intelligence, based on their success with the 2019 Epic Flash driver. The Mavrik range has three variations: the standard, the Sub Zero, and the Max. In this review we will concentrate on the standard.
Callaway’s intelligent people may not be as sharp as the computers they use to build their clubs. Callaway was able learn efficiently and quickly thanks to the AI, which allowed him to develop unconventional, Mavrik-style thinking.
It’s a driver face designed for speed. Coupled with the improved aerodynamics of the Mavrik, this is a driver that’s capable of some serious distances.
Even better, Callaway is not willing to sacrifice forgiveness for the Mavrik. Although the club has a higher MOI, this AI proved to be far more accurate than Epic Flash on the entire face. The AI enabled designers to use unconventional methods to calculate spin rates and weight distribution.
The club’s acoustics was another area that the AI was assigned to improve. Engineers instructed the AI to lower club’s sound frequency to make it more pleasing. It’s a fantastic sounding driver, though the mind is still boggled.
Is the Callaway Mavrik Driver worth it?
The MAVRIK driver is a gold medal winner of the 2020 Golf Digest Hot List, and it’s also a favourite of PGA Tour player Xander Schauffele.
