Practical Golf doesn’t allow me to do many club reviews. One golfer’s experience can’t predict the results of another. As I know that you all want results, I’m happy to test to see if there have been any.
I compared my Titleist 917 D3 driver against the Callaway Epic Flash . My Titleist driver is custom fit and is optimal for my swing since I am a low spin player. A lot of golfers found the 917D3 too “spinny”, which they recently addressed with their TS line. I’ve been using my Titleist driver for nearly two years, and it’s still great. The following are my results.

I saw a significant gain in distance which was a combination of launching the ball a bit faster and higher. The longest drive I have ever recorded on my launch monitor was a ball speed of 155 mph. I don’t usually exceed 150 mph. Other drives were longer than 290 yard.
You could say I was a little impressed with the Callaway Epic Flash. You could probably dial the driver up a bit more with a better head/shaft combo. However, that was only the extent of the loaned demo club. Aside aside, the club’s look was great. It felt fantastic at impact. These subjective views can differ among players. Performance is the most important factor in deciding whether to purchase a new car.

Callaway invented the Jailbreak technology that gave rise to Epic’s first drivers two years back. Epic is without question the most well-known piece of modern golf equipment. Jailbreak provided incredible speed and performance gains.
Epic Flash is yet another major breakthrough in driver technology. This innovation looks likely to be even more revolutionary than its predecessor.
Callaway’s Ely Performance Centre Carlsbad in California was where I tried the Epic Flash Sub Zero and Epic Flash Sub Zero drivers. Ever since then I’ve played extensively with them. The drivers have all the performance qualities of Rogue or Epic, and they are both worthy replacements.
Please allow me to tell you why.
Overall impression
There are plenty of websites that run the numbers through the gamut, comparing all the new drivers. I don’t think you should be relying on these numbers or those tests to make your decision about the next driver. One golfer’s ideal score is not the same for another. The one thing I was most curious about, however was whether golfers often replace their drivers. This was why I started Twitter.
To me, this says most golfers will replace their driver when a new idea or technology is introduced that really catches their eye from a performance aspect. 77% of golfers are swinging a driver that is at least 3 years old. If this is you, then it’s probably time to get a new driver.
Now, whether or not shelling out $500+ for the upgrade is worth the uptick in performance (or even within your budget) is another question. You should consider a club fitting specialist if golf is something you care about and that’s what your goals are.
And the first driver you should test is the Callaway Epic Flash.

Do not mix it up with Epic Drivers, Epic Sub Zero Drivers, or Epic Flash Stars.
Yes, it’s probably time they put the Epic name to rest for a while, regardless of that fact, the standard Epic Flash driver is one that is certainly worth our review.
Flash Drivers, one of the most talked up clubs in golf today is the Flash Drivers.
We will be comparing the Callaway Epic Flash Driver to other Epic Drivers, as well as to other Drivers available on the market.
Review of the Callaway Epic Flash Driver. This driver is similar to that in the Epic Flash Sub Zero. It comes with a sliding-weight. The Epic Flash Sub Zero has a weight of 12 grams, while the Epic Flash Flash Sub Zero comes with a weight of 16 grams.
Epic Flash is ideal for those with mid-to-high handicap. Sub Zero has a higher handicap. It is more likely that a heavy weight promotes a draw or fade bias.
This driver was created to allow players to have more control and forgiveness over their ball flight, but also increase their ball speed. A lot to accomplish in a brand new product release.
Conclusion
The Callaway Epic Flash has done extremely well for Callaway this year. The epic series of both Irons and Drivers are proving to not only have an increase in performance from the original Epic but they have raised the bar when it comes to competitors.
Epic drivers only drawback is the initial price.
This makes it the best driver for the weekend 15, handicapper.
Callaway epic flashes will get more attention as they become available and their price drops.
It is vital to understand, which hopefully the review clearly stated, that flash drivers have the potential to impact both the future of the game as well as the future technology of clubs.

First, I want to thank MGS for choosing me as the reviewer of the Most Wanted driver 2019. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of waking up and seeing one of the moderators has sent you a private message with a title like “Callaway Epic Flash Testers!”
Kory my name, I live in Hawaii and am lucky to be able to share my Hawaiian heritage with others. My family was a golfer growing up. I have been playing the game since age 5. My uncle had some tools that he cut down, and I was able to join him on the range. When I was 10 years old, I lived in Las Vegas. This was the moment I started to learn how to hit the ball down and not try to sweep it. I also started breaking 100 on the ladies’ tees. My winter break was spent in Hawaii and I continued to play golf all year. However, it wasn’t for competition, but as a way to enjoy time with my family. I had lost my love for playing golf after college. Two years later, some of my closest friends took me back on to the course and made it a new obsession. While my playing partners can range from former NCAA college champions to those who are just starting to play and who shoot in the 100s regularly, I have never been one to care too much about their playing abilities. I come on the course for fun and enjoyment, no matter how well I play.
I’ve never joined a club, so I’ve never had an “official” handicap, but I typically shoot 80-83 and play courses around 6300-6500 yards comfortably. While I am currently at a 9 hdcp with 18 Birdies, the test selected me for Arccos. This will help to determine my future game. While I’m able to swing a fair amount for my size, one of my greatest strengths is the ability to create decent clubhead speed. Unfortunately, consistency and my lack of ability to putt are some of my problems. A driver’s swing speed of 103 to 105 mph is my average, which I believe is a good swing speed. Also, I am known for having a smooth swing. My friends have often said that I play golf just to be a driver. I don’t like the idea of having to swing off the tee to position myself on a course. I’ll look for any excuse to let the big dog eat, and that usually lands me in the soup on those courses, so I tend to avoid those courses whenever I can.
My usual ball flight has a middle-height (or what my mind considers to be mid height) draw. If I’m stuck or get blocked, I either have an over draw/hook, which I use to offset the situation. Since my Flash fitting, I have been trying to move my path out-to in a bit more. (More on that later).
As I mentioned, I love hitting driver and testing them for my game. You have to consider that in the 2 years that MGS has been around, I have had to switch drivers three times. It’s not that any of these drivers were terrible, I just gained something over the previous one each time I tested. This is my list of drivers (each one was fit either at my local range or custom shop):

Epic Flash’s performance has been overwhelming after tracking it using Arccos for 11 rounds (63 shots) and some range time sessions. The rest of my review is going to be a bit more Callaway-y than I actually am. This driver really has me smiling from the ear to the ear.
9.8/10 points for the appearance. The ball looks ready to be launched at address by this shape. This is a more stretched out shape than the TS3 with its pear-shaped design. You almost don’t notice the graphics on top unless they’re directly in direct sunlight. I enjoy the gloss look. The carbon fiber’s fade to the edges is sleek and elegant. The subtle yellow/green outer paint is nice. The simple Callaway Chervon Sign for alignment makes the driver look amazing and isn’t too busy below the ball.
The underside of the item is quite different and I gave it a 0 for looks. For some it isn’t important because you won’t ever see it. But it felt wrong to not give it a 10 if I saw areas where it could be improved. I was never a fan of the green/yellow colorway, it looks okay in moderation (like the pinstripes around the perimeter) but the amount of Green Bay Packer green and gold is just not my cup of tea.
From the back you can see more of the carbon weave which I still think looks great, and after 11 rounds the face has held up nicely as well.
Sound and Feel (8 of 10 points). There has been much discussion on the sound of this driver thread. Many opinions have been expressed. Since this is so subjective, it’s not hard to believe that each of us could totally hear a different sound. According to me, the sound sounds more like an “crack”, rather than metallic. That’s the difference between a steel and wooden baseball bat. The sound is still a little bit metal-y, as it’s made out of metal. But, the carbon crown reduces it well and alters the acoustics. While no one will be able to see you through the range, your partners in the band will know when your instrument has struck the middle of BOOMTOWN USA’s national anthem. Absolutely no issues with the sound for me.
It feels very soft across the entire face, and I believe that this is true for all areas of my face. It’s easy for me find the spot where the touch is most prominent. I also feel the sweet spot, which feels springy. This allows you to immediately know the difference between the two. Knowing where my strike zone is on the face helps me adjust mid-round. The texture isn’t Mizuno-butter forged soft. It’s still soft enough to not feel all that cheap while also feeling firm enough for deep penetration. It didn’t give me any different feelings.
Basic Characteristics (20 out of 20 Points) This section is a great score. This driver scores higher and is more consistent than my TS2 (2 rounds, one range session), which I then sold. TS2 was not given a fair shot due to its poorly fitting shaft. However, the results I have gotten with Flash are so good that I won’t be tempted to buy any other product currently available on the market – which is a big deal coming from a driver who’s a ho.
Do Any Pros Use Epic Flash Driver?
Is it being used for tours? Callaway is continuing its success story of epic flash drivers and driver. The epic and rogue models have been highly acclaimed and were successful over the years. And now, in 2019, they are breaking new heights with their epic flash driver. Callaway is a true expert in what the golfers are looking for.
Is The Epic Flash Sub Zero A Good Driver?
Amazing distance, surprisingly good forgiveness, a modern look, comfortable feel, and workability are all there. The Epic Flash Sub Zero driver should be a top choice for players who are faster and/or can swing more quickly.
