The charging case is hardwired and has very limited extension. This can be annoying. There is no covering for the earpieces when they are docked.
Any degree of water resistance at this price can be considered a plus. But the Go Air s IP44 rating is just average. This means it can only tolerate minor splashes and some dust/dirt particles. It is not strong enough for water pressure. However, the Air can be used to sweat and wipe off dirt with minimal effort.
JLab Audio’s Burn-in and Audio apps are perhaps the most inconvenient for wireless in-ears. It is cumbersome and more of a JLab marketing tool than anything else. You probably don’t need the “burn-in” feature, but using it at all can be beneficial. The majority of the app allows you to access the JLab store to spend more money. This app doesn’t have any compelling reasons to be downloaded. In fact, it can be canceled and the sales pitch removed.
JLab has estimated that a battery can last for 5 hours. The case is capable of holding 15 hours. However, your volume level will affect the result.

It’s not unusual to evaluate an audio product as conservatively priced as JLab’s latest earbuds. The circumstances must be just right to justify it. This means that the product must be a trusted brand with interesting features and high demand.
JLab will be happy to test the Go Air true wireless buds at $30. With their included case and IP44 waterproof rating, these buds provide 20 hours of battery life. They also have rave customer reviews. Surely these buds are too good to be true, right?
Out of the box The Go Air’s packaging is as compact as the buds themselves, encased in JLab’s standard shade of light blue. It opens as a book. This allows you to quickly see the controls and the plastic cover that covers the earbuds.
Nick Woodard/Digital Trends JLab includes 2 extra pairs gel cushion tips in addition to the buds. This is why there’s not a separate charging cable. The cable that comes in the case’s case is quite short and it doesn’t offer much more than making the case into a dongle for any USB port.
It has a pull tab at the charging container, which I haven’t seen since activating the remote for my older car stereo. But getting connected with the Go Air is easy beyond that, with JLab even providing a roughly five-minute video guiding you through the entire process.
This connection was quite a surprise. You shouldn’t expect much from cheaper buds but I haven’t experienced any dropouts. Although it hasn’t been ideal weather for long-term testing, walking through the backyard while my phone was still in my house showed solid Bluetooth range.
The structure of the Go Air seems to be one of their biggest selling points. The Go Air is lightweight, portable, small and extremely comfortable.

How Good Is Battery Life?
SoundGuys JLab Go Air testing period found that the headset could last for four hours, five minutes, on just one charge. This average is good news for true wireless earbuds of 2020. A quick charge is possible; the headset will provide 1 hour of play time after 15 minutes. Anker SoundCoreOnePlus provides faster charging than others, but we prefer it over removing the feature entirely. To charge the case, it takes approximately 2 hours. The earbuds require 1.5 hours.
Dual Connect technology from JLab provides two independent connections. One connects each earbud to its source device. This allows for stable connectivity, reduced latency and better audio quality, but there will still be some audio-visual delay when streaming YouTube videos, Netflix and other streaming media. Bluetooth 5.0 firmware is the preferred protocol, although Bluetooth multipoint can’t be used. Due to the cost-effective nature of this headset, we recommend that listeners can connect to at least two devices simultaneously.
Bluetooth codec support is limited: your only options are AAC and SBC, the latter of which is the Bluetooth standard and lowest-common-denominator of wireless codecs. AAC works only on iOS, MacOS and iPadOS devices. Android continues to struggle with AAC across all devices. This isn’t an important issue, since sound quality isn’t dependent just on codecs. Instead, it depends on finding the right fit for the listener to her environment as well as the audio engineering used in the headset’s driver system. AAC support does not apply here.
If you’re thinking about purchasing $30 earbuds it is important that your expectations are realistic. It’s not unreasonable to pay $30 for wireless technology, but it is not too much. One of the Go Air’s shortcomings is sound quality, but listeners coming from standard cheap earbuds will be accustomed to the exaggerated bass response.
If you want to get into the nerdy details of the frequency response and how it appears to mimic the equal-loudness contour (ISO226:2003), I implore you to read SoundGuys’ full review . Do not be surprised if the bass notes sound very loud. It may seem as if vocal clarity or instrumental resonances are missing from your music, but it’s actually that the bass notes are making it harder to perceive those relatively quiet frequencies.
It is important to have high isolation for the best audio quality. The ability to make a good seal with the provided tips is another factor. I have small ears, so the Go Air’s big-diameter tips don’t work well for me. When I was able to maintain a cogent seal, background noise (e.g., A/C units) were rendered almost one-half as loud as they’d sound without ear or headphones. I did a lot of moving my ears which caused the earbuds to become looser. This meant that I could rarely get a perfect fit for more then 15-30 minutes.
Verdict
While audio quality might not be great, and the case can have a few issues, JLab Go Air True Wireless Earbuds is compact and very comfortable.
Although they can be trusted for daily usage, music lovers and audiophiles might find it more reliable.
I could recommend these as a great introduction to wireless earbuds, and they are a good choice for teens or students as the low price point means they are more easily replaceable if they get lost or damaged.
It can compete with the best earbuds available, but it beats them all. JLab Go Air True Wireless Earbuds can be used as a backup pair, for gym use or simply to have a set of good earbuds that are affordable.

While you may need to be able to tap each command several times, it will become easier. The commands were intuitive to me in general. The volume control can be tricky, however. It’s better to adjust volume from the listening source than trying to change it quickly. The reason is that a single tap controls volume while double and triple tapping control other items. It is impossible to change the controls.
Also, the case design is excellent. Like the earbuds, the case is built from plastic, and it’s very small. That means that you can easily fit it in your pocket or bag. This charging case is different from other cases because it has the charging cable integrated into the design, rather than a port. I’m not sure how I feel about that. You don’t have the burden of carrying the bag. On the other hand, it means you have to use a USB-A port, or get an adapter.

However, it never felt as though they were going to break or become damaged. This is very useful. The box contains three pairs each of ear tips, as well as the charger case and earbuds.

These earbuds are very interesting as they share many of the same features found in other wireless headphones on the market, including IPX4 (same AirPods Pro), 5-hours battery life and a charging case which adds 15 hours to total. They cost only $29. This is a lot cheaper than the AirPods replicas you can find on Amazon. Heck, that’s cheaper than it costs to replace a lost AirPods (with AppleCare+). You can’t believe these wireless earbuds come at such a cheap price.
Well, you might be surprised. The JLab Go Air are priced at $29 and do not offer exceptional sound quality. These are great to buy because they can be heard and extremely reliable.
They’Re Dependable, Which Is More Than You Can Say About A Lot Of Wireless Earbuds.
In my week of testing the earbuds’ audio never cut out, I never had any issues with fit or having them fall out of my earbuds, and I had never had any problems with battery life. It was actually quite amazing how long the earbuds could last between charges. The earbuds are also equipped with modern conveniences such as sweat resistance and capacitive touches that allow you to control your smartphone’s voice assistant. There’s even touch controls for adjusting the music’s EQ, though I can’t say the different modes made much of a difference.
Overall the JLab Go Air’s are surprisingly competent considering their low price.
