Performance

The name-brand PING G425 LST driver is a success. A drop of approximately 200 RPM was observed between the G425 LST/Max and the G425 LST. Your mileage will vary so get in shape before buying.

PING LST drivers have impressed me with their ability to remain stable and forgiving even when they are spinning lower. While there is small trade off in forgiveness, you don’t need to be a plus handicap to game the G425 LST. The ball didn’t fly from the earth even though I was hitting shots with my heel. It has the same forgiveness as its predecessor.

The G425 LST driver boasts the same substantial adjustability as the G425 Max. The loft can be adjusted as high or low as 1.5 degrees. Don’t forget about the Flat position. It is essential for all those who are skilled at pulling their tee shots. Also, there is a weight on the back, with 3 positions: Draw, Neutral and Fade. Although the LST weight is slightly lighter than that of the Max (17 g vs. 26 g), I found its impact significant.

PING has a large selection of stock shafts available for its G425 Max driver. There are three proprietary models: ALTA CB 55 Slate, PING Tour, and Alta Distanza. PING offers the Aldila Rogue White130 MSI and Mitsubishi TENSEI OAV Orange for those players looking to have a hot shaft.

The Test

Ping was my destination in October for me to be fitted with the length shaft and the type that would best suit me as a driver. The G425 was closed to me at that time, but I was able to test the G410 heads. When I was given the G425 Driver, it was the LST model. I had to use the same shaft. This gave me the best club for me and allowed me to give an honest evaluation.

I compared the driver against the G410 LST inside at LSH Auto, Mercedes Benz Stockport using Trackman 4 and Titleist Pro V1x balls. Reddish Vale Golf Club hosted me to play a couple of rounds and to decide if the driver was good enough to be considered for my bag.

Important Disclaimer

As far as we know, fast swingers will do best when they hit the ball with slow spin drivers.

Keep in mind, however that those with positive angles of attack have naturally lower spin rates. You will need to have your club fitted professionally to find out if you are in need of a low spinning head. To make an informed decision on whether or not the Ping G425LST driver is right for you, it’s important to know your launch angles and spin rates.

Did that make sense? Let me repeat that again.

A low-spin driver, such as the Ping G425LST, is not something you can determine until you have ruled out hitting spinny drives. To do that, I recommend you find a local club fitter that has great reviews among golfers in your area.

Now we can move on to the Ping G425LST drivers overall performance and appearance. Ping’s driver are outstanding. G400 and G410 were exceptional all-round drivers. Truthfully, I think they are all practically the same though, so you can easily save money by going with the older model.

At address the Ping G425LST driver looks just like other models but is a bit smaller. LST drivers have 445cc heads, and SFT or MAX head have 460cc. Low-spin driverheads are often a bit smaller than the others.

It does have their dragon-fly motif on the allblack crown. That makes the head seem larger. It’s amazing for extra forgiveness as you stand over the golf ball from the tee box.

Ping G425 Drivers – What You Must Know

Ping G425 driver is the latest evolution of Ping’s highly-popular G-series. The Ping G driver was the first to get it all started in 2016. Since then, year on year, Ping has refined, tuned, and tweaked their clubs’ performance while trying to keep a basic premise in mind. Ping offers a mix of distance and power with a good helping of forgiveness for those who need it.

We all need forgiveness on a long par five with the ‘big stick’ in our hand. That’s the truth.

This year’s drivers will have a few things that are a bit different. Notice that I said slightly. Ping has been able to show some restraint against the trend for golf professionals to create as many buzzwords or gimmicks that they can.

Suppose you have played with Ping drivers at all over the last 5 years. These drivers will be familiar to you, with some minor changes that could make them a strong favorite during the coming golf season.

Ping G425MAX will be my introduction. This driver promises to prove to be one Ping’s greatest all-around drivers. From there, we’ll go to the slightly more specific LST and SFT drivers, discuss the differences and who each club would be best suited to.

Let’s go… G425Max Driver Review The Ping G425, the basic “vanilla”, version of this three driver series.

It’s not true. This club isn’t represented by ‘Vanilla. The club is full of great features.

With the G425 line-up, the brand has decided to once again stick to its tried and tested engineering practices by effectively building upon the same brilliant designs and technologies that brought its previous G400 and G410 families such universal acclaim.

The CG Shifter, undoubtedly, is this tech’s standout. This massive, moveable tungsten weight – placed at the extreme rear of the sole of the club – results in an equally extreme low and back CG (centre of gravity) placement.
