Srixon driver Z785

Srixon Won The Driver Race. It feels more like there have been a few companies competing over the drivers’ race in recent years. Sure there are 20 plus drivers on the market, but 2 or 3 companies seem to dominate the buzz, the tour, the sales and the bags of golfers. Srixon set out to be a contender for the big dog slot in your bag. They needed to convince their tour pros. It is possible that the new Z785 driver could be your next favorite player. There are lots of bold claims on the Srixon website about their driver. Will they be able to show real-world performance or bold claims? Find out more… Srixon won’t be shy to challenge other drivers. The Rogue is faster and they claim that the Rogue can be straighter than an in-line M3. These are bold claims that they share on their website as they describe the performance of the new Z785 driver. The driver they developed was able to compete with the best in the field, according to their head-to head testing. It is a new TI51AF Cup Face, Carbon composite crown. The lighter-weight materials used in the head enable better CG manipulation as well as greater energy transfer. This is a bold claim, but did the Srixon Z785 driver live up to its hype?

Srixon Z785 driver is an excellent “off-the-rack” combination. ProjectX HZRDUS BLACK Hand Crafted shafts are the real deal. This shaft has been a favourite of mine since the beginning, as I can be seen in my review. From head to grip, the package looks very good. The little accent of red and chrome look very classic. There was just enough carbon left to make sure you know it’s there. Because you can clearly see the ball’s impact, the black face looks great. The bold red headcover looks really sharp in the bag too. If you judge by his appearance, it is no surprise that this driver has the potential to compete.

Srixon Z785 Driver had to convert me. Does it really do what it claims? Srixon may just have achieved it. It’s amazing how well this driver drives. On the very first swing I notice how great this driver sounds. Srixon has dialed the multi-material sound to make it very pleasant. Although muted, it doesn’t feel so dead. The impact is so strong that it feels hot but not loud. It was powerful and impressive. Flat flight and quick launch were great for me. Drive after drive looked like “pro” drives. Pros see a flight differently than amateurs. Regular golfers either hit a high, but spinny ball or a lower trajectory trying to take advantage of roll. It’s a better shot for pro golfers who launch it higher, with low spin and great carry. This is the Srixon Z785 I experienced.

Srixon Z785 driver offers great sound, look and flight. You need to consider length and dispersion. The most important factor in driver success is length and dispersion. Yes the Srixon Z785 offers all of those features too. Many drives were perfect straight, and I made 3 bill-length ones. Off-center hits didn’t get as far but they were definitely in play, and they were plenty long. Low spin is key to this driver’s dispersion and distance. The combination works well. I’ve been able also to improve my swing speed.

Feel, Appearance And Performance

The Srixon Z785 driver has a clubhouse look from top to base. Although the new carbon crown looks similar to other clubs’, it allows weight to be distributed to specific areas of the clubhead. The muted, black-grey colors add to the look. This is something Srixon fans will enjoy.

Z 785 has a flashier sole than other models. It also adds a red tint to the outside lining of your head. This really makes the club look more lively, and I’m a huge fan. Srixon is a traditionalist, but there’s no harm in incorporating some color.

The clubhead is the place where magic really happens. The new TI51AF Cup Face design allows for more flexibility at impact. This increases ball speeds all over the face. This design improves the club’s ability to forgive mistakes and speeds up the drive.

The Z 785 feels muted and soft at impact, and sound is loud but not sharp. Srixon metalwoods are a great sound, which I love. Nobody likes to draw unwanted attention on the tee due to a loud driver, and you can hear when a club is designed for better players. Such is the case with this club.

In normal conditions and dry ball testing, the Z 785’s average drive length was 270 yards. The ball speed exceeded 150 mph in a dry ball test. The Z 785’s drive time is longer than that of the Z765 and it has the fastest ball speeds. It also runs the longest test driver I’ve ever tested.

Launch conditions for the Z 785 were excellent thanks to my review model’s HZRDUS stock shaft. Initial launch was at 16deg. This is slightly lower than ideal (depending on which person you believe). The spin was slightly lower than optimal at 3000 rpm. This can easily be adjusted by a loft change.

Peak height was slightly higher than I would normally prefer at 35 yards on average, but this again could be due to loft setting and adjusting to different shaft characteristics. Even if the loft had been left unaltered, this did not affect distance.
