The fact is that our Vice Pro sample was purchased right as new Vice Pro models arrived. Instead of publishing information about an obsolete model, it was decided that data would be published once we had access to the updated models. With COVID messing with the supply chain, it took us a while.
Our data is complete and the Vice Pro now has two years worth of Ball Lab data. So, in addition to our standard Ball Lab metrics, having a bit of history allows us to compare quality across generations and see where things have improved, devolved or stayed the same.
About the Vice Pro As you can see, not a whole lot has changed between models. As the original Vice Pro, this 2020 Vice Pro has a 3-piece performance golf club with a polyurethane shell. Foremost Taiwan manufactured it and featured the same 318-dimple design as many Foremost balls. It’s the same pattern used on the OnCore ELIXR we reviewed earlier , though we should note that the latest generation of Foremost-made balls features thinner covers. That should lead to more greenside spin and, indeed, that’s among the benefits listed by Vice.
We found that Vice Pro’s 2019 Golf Ball Test suggests it is a midlaunch, mid-spin golf ball. We expect that will carry over with the new model given that the Vice Pro is positioned to compete against the Titleist Pro V1 Vice Pro – Compression Vice is sticking to the formula that works. Concerning compression, it is basically the same model as the old Vice Pro. The new Vice Pro is at +/- 86 compression. This allows it to live in the zone where compression loss is minimal and yet provides an incredibly soft feel that is comparable to a good percentage of the Tour category.

Vice Golf Balls Review – Tour, Pro, Drive

I used the Vice Tour, Pro and Drive balls to get a good feel for them and was able to compare them to Titleist Pro V1’s stats using a FlightScope launch monitor.
It’s not easy to compete with the Pro V1 giant golf ball. Non-Titleist ball manufactures, big and small, are trying to cut into that market share. The three main categories are price, performance and image. Pro V1 excels at the first two, but other ball makers have reacted to the third.
Vice intends to go after each and every one of them in order create a market for themselves in the balls market. While they created a ball with high performance at a more affordable price, their focus was on branding. The logo, packaging and price point offer something more than ProV1 with a cooler look.
In the mail, a packet of Vice Balls was delivered. The sample package contained three of the three-tiered ball systems. Pro, Tour, Drive and Drive balls. A nice touch was that they were all printed with my name on them. It wasn’t that I wanted to misinterpret my Vice golf balls with another person’s, but it was a nice way of showing their speed and ability. It also features very innovative designs and photos that make their packaging look cool. This German company gets it too when it comes to marketing as you can see in the picture below. Some people think that some golf balls have better performance than others. The perception is that the best golf balls are those with logos or names on them. That perception is part of the image that playing a certain ball brings. Vice seeks to change that image through a ball which performs as well.
Vice Golf balls could be played on two recent Florida and Hawaii trips. The Vice Golf balls also were tested by my FlightScope X2 Launchmonitor. Their golf balls come in three tiers: Pro (similarly ProV1) Tour (similarly NXT Tour) Drive (similarly Velocity). I certainly gravitated toward the Pro model during my rounds with the urethane cover, but had good success with the Tour and even the Drive models.

Do Vice Golf Balls Work Well?

Vice excelled in this area because they were able to offer a better deal for players with higher scores and lower handicaps.

The 4-piece composition of the Vice Pro Plus golf balls performed comparably to the Pro V1x.
Verdict: The Vice Pro Plus
Overall, I was pleased with Vice Pro Plus’s performance. I was able to get a decent distance from the tee at 295 yards. The ball also stopped fast on the green.
It would have been possible to hit the Pro V1x with a swing speed of 5-10 mph more. It is clear that the Pro V1x is a top-quality golf ball. This makes it worth your consideration.

Is Vice Pro Similar To Pro V1?
Vice PRO PLUS and Titleist Pro V1X were very similar when used as mid-irons. (carry distance 174.4 yards vs. 174.8 miles), Vice PRO PLUS spins more (5396rpm vs. 5555 rpm). The Vice PRO PLUS spins slightly less than the Titleist ProV1X at rom wedge distance – wedge tests show 909,9 rpm.
