Final Verdict

Model: Hi & Dry Water Powered Backup Sump Pump Rb-750

I knew I needed to have some other failsafe backup system but what was I going to do? My neighbor had a battery system, but even that failed on him after his main pump died and the backup worked until the battery died and he had no idea and flooded his basement, luckily his basement was not finished. Ironically, it was that time that I was watching an episode on PBS called “Ask This Old House”. One story was about a basement flooding due to a failing backup battery system. Richard Trethewy demonstrated how to install a backup water system. When the lightbulb went on, I began researching water-powered backup systems and came across Radon. After comparing a number of systems and manufacturers, Seal found that your system offered the greatest ease-of use and simplicity of installation. Its simple design, the lack of electricity and battery requirements and its ability to run for as long as there was water pressure convinced me. Your company also had the best warranty.

I ordered your system and received it quickly, it was ruggedly built, and truly was a compact design, and after careful review of my setup in the basement, was able to install it into the main water line utilizing 3/4″ push fitting and PEX tubing, and 1″ PVC piping for suction and discharge to the outside (photos 1-4). Although I am an experienced plumber, the process was easy. However, I can see how a homeowner could do it with help from a friend. While it seemed quieter than expected, I saw the sump pump drain to its bottom in less than a minute. I felt a smile come over my face, and it gave me a great deal of confidence in my basement. Not to mention that my neighbor is interested in your system as well and can’t wait for me to show it off to him. Your system is amazing! Chris R. KY

“After fearing for my man cave’s fate during hurricane Sandy last year I decided I needed a backup sump pump. After much deliberation, I decided on a water-powered unit. The RB-750 was purchased and I installed it over the weekend. It was easy to put together and the pump’s quality impressed me. You also get the extra connections, which made the installation easier. It took me about 2 days to set up the pump. I’m not a skilled DIYer, but I know how to fix things in the home. While I decided to put in a separate drain pipe, you do not have to. If it is an issue, there’s a tee that connects to the main pump discharge. It’s great! I used it to link the pump and sump pit. The unions are located at both ends so that it is easy to access and repair the pit. It is important to read the instructions carefully. Although the project is simple, there are many details involved. My favorite aspect of this project was where to mount it so that water, discharge and intake can be easily accessed. It would have been even more complicated if there was no flex pipe. It was extremely efficient and worked flawlessly the first time it turned on the water supply. For a longer running time, I had to change the timing knob (when it rains heavily my sump fills very quickly). This backup pump was a purchase I made after doing extensive research online. I’m very pleased with it. Thanks to everyone who has reviewed my project, I am greatly benefited by their collective experience. John V. MD. “Thanks so much for this pump! The installation of the RB-750 was easy and quick. The RB-750 works flawlessly! I attach some photos of the final product. Robert T. IL

The installation went very smoothly. It was a pleasure to find that all the necessary items were included, and that they provided clear instructions. Pump functions as intended and is normal.
