Cobra F-Max Airspeed Offset Driver Review And Photos: Clubtest 2020

For ClubTest 2020, we tested and reviewed 28 new drivers to help you find the right one for your game. Below you will find the Callaway MavrikMax results.

Price: $329 / BUY NOW Lofts: 9.5 ,10.5 , 11.5 Our take: Cobra’s lightest driver comes in at a feathery 285 grams. This is to turn the ball around. You can also use an offset hosel to correct rightward tendencies.

ClubTester’s Take (18-hdcp). “Offset Hosels mightn’t appeal to everybody, but I really enjoyed it.

Robot’s opinion: Robot ranks near the top of mid-speed swingers who can deliver a drawshot bias.

Performance

Cobra encourages straight flight and high launch as the main factors in F-Max’s performance. Looking at the data of the testers, I found that the player with the 12o launch angle was the most common. However, this player launched an average 15o per shot. The average launch time for another tester was 17o. This is with a driver of 9.5o. All of our testers agreed that it was easy to get the ball in the air, and they didn’t feel like the ball ballooned on them. Cobra succeeded in delivering an “easy up” club with the F-Max driver.

Cobra created a draw bias in the F-Max straight neck and offset models by positioning the CG closer to the golfer’s heel. This was done in an effort to improve the accuracy of your shots. While both designs encourage anti-slice, the offset neck will promote more draw. Our testers used the straight neck version, and all of them had a consistent draw flight. F-Max drivers did all it could to try to salvage a draw from the three testers. It may not be the best option for those players who already have a straight shot.
