Ping G410 Fairway Wood Review

Ping might not be the first brand to come up when considering a new fairway wooden, but their recent offerings have been a success. Ping has not been known to make major changes. However, they made several modifications that Ping believes will increase the G410’s speed. The fairway wood will also produce a lot of forgiveness that will aid golfers in getting their best results.

Quick take The G410 fairway club is a Ping design. It has impressive ball speeds and a simple launch that will suit most golfers. Ping also offers the G410 fairway as an SFT and LST models.

PING G410 Fairway Wood Ping’s goal is to make golfers more efficient at generating ball speed. To do this, they have used a maraging c300 steel face that has been made thinner to allow for greater flexing upon impact. Under the hood, the center of gravity has been lowered and more optimally placed to improve not just those ball speeds, but also to help improve the launch conditions. A high-density, tungsten-weight weight is located on the club’s rear perimeter. It will provide stability for off-center hits and also allow you to adjust your swing weight when placing custom orders.

Ping did not get the entire adjustable hosel thing right when it released their Anser driver, back in 2012. They have made the hosel transition to the head look seamless from that moment onwards. Ping’s adapter is simple and has a limited number of loft adjustment options. This contrasts with some other companies that have bulky adapters. With just a few tweaks, the adapter now has eight settings that allow golfers to alter their loft position by 1.5deg. Golfers can also play this club in a flatter lie while still being able to add or subtract 1deg of loft.

Given the history of Ping’s metal woods department there was no doubt that the G410 fairwaywood was in high demand. After an initial range session, I was more comfortable using the adjustable-hosel flat settings, which allowed me to feel the club as a natural fit. Although a 5-wood does not get used much off the tee, it was a great club for playing position. It was actually an eye-opener to make me wonder what the 3-wood could do in this position. Tee shots led to a ball that flew high off the ground and fell left to right.

There are some shots that may be difficult on the golf course, which is why many amateurs find shots of more than 200 yards to be inconvenient. As good as the G410 from the tee is, the G410 played best when it was approached long. The ball can fly high through Fairway woods, which are not easy to hit. That thought was what made these shots so enjoyable. The ball flight was much higher than I’d expect.

Did you really think we could make it to the end of the review without talking about the turbulators? They are visible on the fairway wood. However, rather than being an eyesore they make the ball look great. G410 clubs are able to reduce anxiety and stress by having the head of a friend positioned in front of the ball.

Review: Ping G410 Woods

The G410 fairway woods have had a makeover from the G400 with a shallower face giving it a slightly better look from an aesthetic point of view.

The CG moved forward. It is now nearer to the sole and face. This improves ball flight and distance.

There’s all the forgiveness offered in previous versions and more from the G410 with a high density tungsten back weight included.

C300 maraging iron is used to make the face. It is very thin and lightweight, which allows for increased ball speed, shot height, and distance.

You can choose from 3-wood (14.5%), 5-wood (17.5%), or 9-wood (23.5%) options. There is also 1.5 degree of adjustability for all fairway woods with eight different settings.

Ping G410 LST Solid Woods Review. This wood replaces the G400 stretch and offers a low spin option.

LST drivers have smaller heads than other models. To promote a high ball flight and lower spin, the CG are also placed further back and farther down.

Review of Ping G410 Sft Woods

Straight Flight Technology gives Ping G410 SFT woods their name.

To ensure straight flight, the woods are equipped with a heel-side SFT weight. The weight rests at the top of the head. This provides draw bias and corrects any slice, fade or omission.

The face, like the others, is made from C300 maraging and extremely thin steel to increase ball speed, shot height, and distance.

G410 Clubheads are the largest option of all three, and this increases the MOI. Interestingly in the SFT models, the lofts are 1.5 degrees higher than standard to promote easier launch and a straighter ball flight.

A 3-wood can be purchased at 16 degrees. An 5-wood can be bought at 19 degrees. And a 7-wood at 22. Each wood has 1.5 degree adjustability.
