Overview

Many Golf. WRX members are already familiar with Honma golf, a well-known brand for their intricately crafted courses and being one of most prestigious and fastest-growing brands in golf. This review may be the first they have ever heard about Honma or seen their iconic mole in a hole cloisonne.

The situation is rapidly changing. Honma has been a staple in Japan’s Domestic Market for over 60 years. Now, the company is aiming to be a well-known brand in America and Europe. This year marks the company’s first entry into national “Hot List” competitions, and you can now find and test some of their products, such as the TW737 irons, in big-box golf stores like the PGA Superstore.

Honma was traditionally associated with very high-end clubs and even gold-plated, but the Tour World line can be purchased at a similar price to other domestic forged irons. Tour World happens to also be the line that their tour pros use, such as Hideto Tanihara who has TW737Vs.

The Tour World 737 series features three distinct models, with slightly different head shapes and lofts. Each model is specifically designed for forged-iron users. Honma’s unique face progression and center-of gravity design allows each model for slightly different sole widths, faces thicknesses, head sizes, or offset. While the design itself is impressive, it’s also very easy to add a Tour World combo.

Honma’s high-strength W-Forging is used to forge the entire TW737 line of iron. This two-stage process mixes cold and hot forging. According to Honma, this process increases the density of the club faces, particularly high up. The added strength may increase forgiveness and ball speed.

The TW737, Vn is made for more advanced golfers that like the form and flexibility of a blade. However, they want to have more forgiveness.

TW737V is a compact cavity-back aircraft with a slightly longer head. However, this gives it a greater distance and forgiving than the Vn.

You might think that PING irons are identical to the i25. But a close look will uncover subtle, yet important differences. There are some common characteristics between the irons: an average blade size, minimal offset, moderate top lines and soles, as well as a fairly low level of offset.

The i irons, however have numerous upgrades that give them a cleaner, more modern appearance. CTP, or custom tuning port is nearly hidden. In addition, the weight of the tungsten in the toes of the 3-7 irons is almost invisible. In order to make the iirons appear a bit smaller, the toe of irons was also squared. Last but not least, the offset in the i25’s is slightly higher than it is for the iirons. It isn’t much, but the largest difference is only.03 inches. Traditionalists will be happy with any decrease in offset.

You can see numerous pictures comparing the i irons to the i25 in the slideshow at the bottom of the review.

It’s important to know

PRICE, PS129.00 YEAR : starting in 2021. The most beloved style of iron for amateur golfers is the game-improvement. This iron provides a great distance and makes it easy to hit. Most game-improvement tees look very much the same, but PING’s new G425 irons changed that. Their design impressed Magic Headquarters immediately.
