As I sped to the range with my shiny new Blueprint irons in the trunk, I had visions of all the shots I was going to create. I didn’t leave until the irons were no longer shiny and every one of those shots had been hit. These irons, provided you choose the correct shaft (which PING offers plenty of options), will allow you to control every aspect of your ball flight.

Blueprint irons delivered the shot control I had expected. It was surprising how much forgiveness I received. These are my most comfortable blades. Be clear, these do not replace the G410, which I have reviewed HERE. Blueprint irons will tolerate a thin shot, however. Small mishits are almost the same as pure strikes because of the stability provided by the tungsten screw.

This summer I’ve spent more time practicing than I have in many years, and I’ve gotten more in touch with club/turf interaction. The versatility and ease of use that the Blueprint offers has helped me to appreciate it. By this point in the season, my range is a minefield, and I found all manner of sketchy lies. Blueprint had no problem getting the ball out, but they did have enough bounce to stop them digging.

Blueprint irons boast loft specs similar to the modern i.Blades. These are designed for better players who are more concerned about stopping power on the greens than they are about hitting their 6I longer than the next guy. The Blueprint can be purchased in Power Spec Lofts that are 1-2 degrees more powerful for those who want lofts with greater strength.

High expectations were set when I entered this review. But the PING Blueprint irons surpassed them. The irons delivered what I wanted in terms of look, feel and shot control. They also offered more forgiveness than I had expected. The Blueprint will be getting a lot of time in my bag for the rest of 2019 and beyond.

MGS occasionally does special reviews of clubs. The OEM usually provides one set or driver, but it is difficult for us to go through over 1,000 applications in order to select one.

PING offered the Blueprint Review to anyone who met the criteria. There were at most half a dozen people who came up, some had already participated in testing and others just recently completed it.

Shankster, the first name we noticed immediately. We don’t know if anyone on the site is more traditionalist or prefers minimalist club design than Alan.

Shankster only took about one minute to reply to our inquiry. It was probably because he was still reeling from his shock at having been asked. The timing of the move from Michigan into Maryland was complicated, but we were able to resolve it.

We don’t know exactly when he will get it up so I’ll just leave these.

Many people know that I favor small clubs with traditional looks. A Kroyden 2 Iron 2 Iron I am my practice partner! I’m not against anybody who plays GI/SGI clubs. My father in law, however, is a beast with big shovels. I believe I can play better ….. It’s a great idea!

I was always a weirdo, even when it came to my iron selections. I would love to play blades. Mizuno classics are my favorite, along with TP-9s, TP-19s, MP-5s and many other models. Following a string of bad results, I typically move to something entirely different.

After playing with Nike Coverts for a few years, I tempered it with some Ping i200s. Now, I am settled on the Ping i. Blades. They have the name ‘blade’ but actually are a cast cavity-back that is slightly useful.

In other words, I wish I could take the head boy to the prom in irons.

Ping revealed that they were making a true forged knife. I could not get into my tux quick enough. Blade you say? Forged? With Ping’s famous playability? Yes please. Let me be your guy for the Ping Blueprint irons review.

Blueprint irons are influenced by Ping tour professionals, who sought a style that would deliver control and ease of use. This small blade design appeals to the player who puts a premium on workability and trajectory control.

These irons have a shorter blade length, a narrower sole width and less offset. A machined tungsten toe screw increases the MOI for additional forgiveness and is combined with an internal heel weight to provide precise swing-weight tuning.

A new 8620-carbon steel alloy is used to forge the iron. This increases its strength and durability. The one-piece forging is a four-stage, multi-stage process that ensures very precise dimension tolerances within a compact structure.
