Introduction

Samsung has done an outstanding job with its latest Galaxy A phone. The Korean giant clearly decided to focus its efforts on what is officially its best-selling line. It’s easy to see why the “Awesome” tagline is so popular. There are many devices that bring value, such as the Galaxy A32 and A52.

Samsung decided to offer 5G versions on the A52 (and A32) in order to keep its products as stylish and trendy as possible. These 5G variants usually target the same price range as their 4G counterparts. This inevitably implies that there have been some compromises made in order to include the processor with 5G support. We have already reviewed the Galaxy A52 5G, and the subtle but noticeable differences between it and the Galaxy A52 regular Galaxy A52. The A32 5G has now been subject to a similar review.

Unboxing

Galaxy A32 5G’s budget price tag makes it a bit difficult to find a box for the Galaxy A32 5G. This basic box has a cardboard bottom and a top with a fleece. It is important to not apply pressure to the top. Perhaps Samsung can do a bit better for protection during transit. A32 5G’s packaging is good, and includes thin plastic layers, which are adhered right to the frame.

Concerning protection or insufficient protection, neither the Galaxy A32 5G has a pre-applied protective screen coating nor a box with case. These are common on budget phones made by other brands. You get a basic 15W wall charging adapter ([email protected], 5V@2A), and a short USB Type A to Type C cable. The cable is included, but you do not need it to obtain the complete 15W.

Design, Hardware, What’S In The Box

Image Gallery (6 Images). The Galaxy A32 5G continues this trend of larger mid-range phones. This phone is comfortable to carry around at 6.5″. This phone doesn’t measure up to Ultra, but is in the Plus or XL range. However, the shape is a bit blocky. It may also feel too big for people with smaller hands.

While the screen’s chin is shaped and large, its resolution is low. The screen is smooth and 90Hz at most, depending on how fast the chipset keeps up, however, it is a 720p, IPS panel without OLED. You will notice that the OnePlus Nord N10 5G, which is nearly identical in size at 90Hz, also has a 1080p IPS LCD display. While the A32-5G screen is good in terms of color and uniformity I felt it needed to be more brighter. In direct sunlight, however, it was hard for me read. I also struggled a bit with its automatic brightness, which always seemed to lag too much with changes in ambient light quality.

Image Gallery (1 Images). The A32-5G frame and back is both made of plastic. However, the front panel is entirely glass. While I am not certain if it is gorilla or not, the glass held up well to my abuse. Although your mileage might vary and you may have just been blessed, the A32-5G proved to be quite resilient for me.

Image Gallery (1 Images) Like most mid-range phones, you can still depend on a headphone jack, though it tops up with USB Type-C just 15W Samsung calls that “fast,” and technically it is faster than Motorola’s similarly priced offerings, but it’s slower than the Pixel 4a’s 18W, and half of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G’s 30W. However, it does have expandable storage via microSD, and an opening on the SIM tray.

Calls are only heard through the bottom-firing speaker. As with premium smartphones (or the OnePlus Nord N105G), there’s not stereo output through the earpiece. It is slightly muffled and very quiet. The phone does not have IP-rated water resistant, however this is common for its price. My experience with this phone was that it behaved like any flagship water-resistant smartphone. This included using the phone in light rain.

Image Gallery (1 images) The fingerprint sensor, located right in the power button is convenient. It wasn’t reliable due to my callused thumbs, and some home-improvement projects that required me to do a lot of hand cleaning, however. It will probably work better for others.

Samsung was courageous enough to include a charger in the box, plus a Type-A to Type-C cable for connecting it to your phone, and the usual warranty cards and other documentation.

Software, Performance, And Battery

Samsung OneUI 3.1, which is a popular choice for most of our readers, can be skipped in the paragraphs below. It’s a great Android skin and is easy to use, even if you don’t know much about it.

Image Gallery (7 Pictures) Samsung gave A325G the new Android 11, which is more recent than some other budget phones. The phone runs the latest software with all of the Galaxy S-series flagships. The phone has the usual OneUI 3.0 features, as well as Duo video calling integration for the dialer. However it lacks some camera features such Single Take or Director’s view. Bixby is still a problem, however you can ignore it.

The majority of the UI elements found in Samsung’s apps move things to the bottom of the screen. This allows for easier one-hand use. You’ll also see large headers for items. The design is simple but clean. However, it can be customized in typical Samsung fashion by Samsung’s OneUI and its extensive settings menus.

Photo Gallery (3 Images). Samsung has added a number of useful features, such as an expanding side panel that can be accessed via quick swipe. This panel allows you to load apps, contacts and a lot more. With OneUI’s ability to run multiple apps simultaneously, and with the free-form app window that you can open right from the top of everything else, it is better than other Android versions. You won’t likely use this phone as often as a tablet or foldable, but you can still access it if needed.

Samsung’s software has been very stable in recent years. The biggest software issue you’re likely to run into with the A32 5G is the fact that Samsung can be aggressive with background apps and may kill them faster than it should . This can lead to delayed notifications. I experienced this a bit during my review. However, it was not as severe as on other smartphones so Samsung might have tuned its settings. Samsung’s mobile apps often show you some very obnoxious advertisements. These ads can sometimes appear in your notification color. I find this unacceptable on a flagship smartphone costing more than $1,000. This is not an issue for a phone at a mid-range cost, though it would be a problem if the practice was to bring this price down by 20-40 dollars.

Samsung isn’t quite as committed to its update promise as with flagship phones but it’s better than many other smartphones at this price. They offer two-year OS updates, and three security patches. It’s better than the OnePlus promise for the N105G. The A325G comes with a higher version of Android.

Unfortunately, performance of the A32 5G wasn’t the greatest. The phone would frequently stutter, to the point that it was difficult to tell if there had been a tap. It also dropped frames to such an extent that it required me to double-check the 90Hz display. While it may seem smooth enough to be able to detect if the device is connected to the internet, the A32 5G’s performance was not the best. I don’t know if it’s a software optimization problem or if MediaTek’s Dimensity 720 5G just isn’t up to the task, but the phone frequently feels slow as a result. You might not be able to notice the difference if your phone is older and slower. For those who are curious, the Nord N10 5G is faster than it looks and feels more fluid. It costs $20 less.

Samsung Galaxy A32 5G Review – The Galaxy A32 5G 5G is Samsung’s best selling phone under $300 in the US. Although there are many Samsung phones, it seems that the Galaxy A32 5G has been one of its most exciting releases. It was officially revealed in January after a few weeks of speculation and leaks, and the phone arrived in the United States in April . The MSRP for the phone is $279.99. This makes it Samsung’s least expensive 5G-capable smartphone (aside from the Galaxy A225G, which has not yet arrived in the US). There isn’t much to dislike about the other features of this budget phone with 5G support. The performance is excellent and the battery can last all day. Software is similar to other Samsung smartphones.

After having tried the Galaxy A52 5G Galaxy A42 5G I decided to test the Galaxy A32 5G. This phone isn’t perfect but the price point makes it the most affordable in this price segment.
